The
Chilton Foliat Fete 2006
Saturday
3rd June 12.30 - 3.30pm
Stallholders' page
Things you need to know.
| Set-up |
You need to have
your stand set up and ready to open by 11.30am Saturday 3 June
2006. You can arrive at the recreation ground (The Rec) any
time from 8.30am on the Saturday. The fete itself opens at
12.30, and closes at 3.30pm. |
| Access |
You get to the Rec
by driving up Stag Hill, off the main road through the
village, and turning right after a few hundred yards. |
| Site fee |
We charge a very
reasonable fee of just £40 to you to have a stall at the
fete. However, we really do appreciate it if you agree to give
us more than that! If you have a larger site, particularly
food or entertainment, we ask you to donate 25% of your
takings. Obviously there is a lot of trust involved in
this, but it has worked well in the past, so we're
continuing on this front. |
| Stall furnishings |
We don't provide
anything apart from a pitch of the site. It's up to you
to make your stall look fantastic and draw people in. Don't
forget the obvious: Table(s), chair(s), and publicity material
to promote your product. We don't provide power or other
services, and it's up to you to arrange your own insurance if
you need it. |
| Break down |
The fete closes at
3.30 pm, so you can start packing up then. Please give
any donations, or percentage of your take, to our treasurer,
Nick Fritz, who will be on site. |

On the day
in 2005
We were very lucky with fabulous
weather for the fete. The day before had been very wet, and
so everyone was relieved when the sun shone for most of the
day. Many people had not anticipated this and caught a bit
of sun, including the fete Chair and most of his family.
About 1,000 people came, from our
village, as well as from many other villages and towns. This
was well over double last year.
And the famous Red Arrows...... they did come after all, despite
our having had a phone call on Thursday and a letter on Saturday apologising for not being able to come. In fact, they didn't fly past just once, but three times. Once at
10am above the clouds, before the fete opened, once at about 3.20 (8 of them in two groups of 4), and one on its own 20 or so minutes later.
And how much did we raise?
Nearly £6,000, with a gross of over £10,000. This is nearly double last year's figure. Well
done everyone who helped!
So every way it seems that we can say that
2005 was a great success. It beat all records in terms of
numbers of attendees, money raised, and a fantastic family day where everyone
enjoyed themselves immensely. The number of complimentary comments we have received is incredible!
Thanks to the many villagers who helped, and also to the generous sponsors,
prize donors, and financial donors.
