Small
UK village fete uses ground-breaking techniques
Chilton Foliat, a small village in
Wiltshire with a population of just over 300, has leapt into the
21st Century and is selling fete raffle tickets on-line.
Nick Davies, the webmaster (www.ChiltonFoliat.com)
and chair of the 2005 fete, says: "I believe this may be a first
nationally. Village fetes are normally low-key affairs,
publicised only locally. We'll be having all the
traditional events, but are raising our profile massively by
selling raffle tickets on our web site. Anyone, wherever they
live, can go online and buy tickets for our raffle, with
fabulous prizes like a Pentium IV computer worth £700, or an
18-speed Mountain Bike worth £299."
This makes everyone eligible to
enter, not just locals.
