Message
from the new chair, Lizzy Grey, April 2007.
The
2007 fete almost on us.
Hello everybody. My name is
Lizzy Grey, I live in Chilton Foliat’s main street (opposite the village hall) and I seem to have been roped in to
organising this years village fete. I have taken over the reins from Nick Davies, who did a great job as Chair of the
2006 and 2005 fetes. Nick Fritz is staying on as Treasurer, having worked alongside Nick Davies for the past two years, and Amanda Weller (on the
2006 committee) will be helping behind the scenes, as will many villagers (too many to name here).
To see
the list of fabulous raffle prizes, click
here. Tickets are only £1 each. If
you'd like to buy some, please email
me, or buy them at the fete.
Despite the underhanded tactics employed in recruiting me (a few too many gin and tonics at The Wheatsheaf)
I have embraced this challenge full on and I am confident that we could be looking at the
best fete ever.
I have already managed to get my hands on some great prizes for the raffle and, with advice from some very helpful villagers have come up with a few new and exciting events to draw in the crowds.
This year I want the village fete to benefit its audience more
than ever before and so have decided that the profits should be distributed to the causes villagers deem most worthy. Within the next month everyone will receive a flier giving them the opportunity to nominate their favourite cause, everything will be considered from traffic calming to someone who needs help with vet bills for their pet.
I will be collecting bric-a-brac and bottles sometime in April and again in May so please start thinking about a clear-out. If you want to drop anything off with me, I live just over the road from the Wheatsheaf in the house with the big wooden gates, and the large dogs, and numerous children. If you want the exact address, please
email me and I’ll let you know.
Anyone with any suggestions, offers of help, raffle prizes or simply good ideas can contact me on 01488 681567 or
lizzygrey@hotmail.com. We all need to pull together to make this the resounding success it should be.
Thank you for your support and goodwill.
