The Chilton Foliat Fete 2005
Saturday 4th June 12.30 - 3.30pm
Entry by lucky program: Adults £1, children under 18, free.

Our village fete is an annual event, held at our Recreation Ground (behind the Wheatsheaf Pub).  It's a great day out for all the family, and this year's fete promises to be much bigger and better than before.

Entry is by lucky program (buy it at the gate), and it will be a great day out for all the family.  There's something for everyone, and you can feed the whole family at the Burger BBQ, as well as having a drink at the licensed bar or the tea tent.  The Burgers will be top quality, and the beer will be real and well-kept. And there are lots of other fun events for the whole family (click here to see the list), with home-made cakes and home-grown plants for sale, not to mention bric-a-brac that will keep you rummaging for hours hunting for those bargains.

There are some really amazing prizes to be won in our raffle, including a brand new £700 computer system.  Just click here to see them.  It's a growing list, so bookmark this page and come back as often as you can. We'll soon be enabling on-line purchasing of raffle tickets.  If you're interested in being kept informed, click here. And if you want to buy tickets, we have shops in Marlborough, Hungerford and Newbury where you can buy them.  Click here to see them.

The monies raised by the the fete go to the local church (St Mary’s) and the village hall, both of which need substantial sums spending on their roofs. Both are essential community buildings, as well as being of great historical interest.

We look forward to seeing you at the Fete on 4th June!

We're looking for ideas, helpers, prizes, in fact just about anything for the 2005 Fete.  So email us your thoughts today!

The final meeting of the fete including the committee and all helpers who could come was on 19th June 7.45 at the hall.  All are welcome to attend. Topics discussed included constitution, program design and content, review of publicity to date, review of raffle & tombola prizes, as well as the amazing amount of bric a brac donated to date, signage, car parking, portaloos, site layout, events, personnel, table and chair requirements, timetable, helpers, projected revenue and costs, revenue allocation.

Everyone seems to be completely behind the fete, and it was a very positive meeting with everyone looking forward to the big day.

The last meeting for the fete committee was 13th January 2005.

The inaugural meeting of the 2005 Village Fete committee was held on 15th November.

Those present included luminaries who have enabled the fete to happen over the years. In fact, it was their idea.

The committee members decided it was time for a change of blood, and so a vote was taken for a new chair and vice-chair.  Nick Davies was elected chair, and Patrick Mallison vice-chair. Patrick was also voted in as treasurer, as nobody else volunteered, and Patrick picked the short straw.  Patrick has since resigned due to family commitments. But he'll still be involved!

Since then, Nick Fritz has kindly agreed to be Treasurer.

If you'd like to be involved with the fete, please let us know you're.  Email the chairman at nick@chiltonfoliat.com. You'll be added to the Fete committee email list. And asked for your opinions and input! And email us too if you have ideas for stalls, fund-raising, prizes, etc. All suggestions will be seriously considered.  So don't just sit there, contact us!

Please do get in touch with your ideas and suggestions.  This is a community event, and everyone is welcome to take part!
